I had upper ball joints done,soon after a squeaky front end ,and two lube jobs later ,it still squeaks.Anyone else having this problem ?Also when i hit a bump or uneven road my truck kicks to the left.Help...

I have the squeaky front end but the real problem is the
transmission now. Bought the truck new in 2000. Within two
weeks the brakes started jerking. Dealer said it was normal
on the new type brakes, it would break in. The transmission
shifted very hard with loud clunks and lots of shifting on
slight inclines. Cruise control surged when changing lanes.
Same dealer said nothing found wrong in cruise control,
normal for transmission, $400. for checking thank you. My
dealer was a big problem. Now at 60,000 a trans specialist
says it need a new transmission. Anybody know of recalls on
the transmission?

Have had our 2001 since new. has 135,433 miles on it. Routine maintance and some minor repairs. Had original black paint redone last year with a polyurathane coat. Wow, looks better than factory. Replaced all 4 O2 sensors and MAP sensor, new A/C system (Though the garage DID NOT address the TSB on the A/C Drain and I will take it back)
It runs great. Best vehicle we have owned. Shortly after we purchased it, we were involved in a headon collision. the other guy ran a light. His Ford F150 was totaled. Our Dakota was still running and I was able to drive it off the roadway!! hit us squarely in middle of front of truck. No engine damage.
I am gettting ready to replace shocks and bushings. I have that irriatationg sqeak and its loud. Anyone got any suggestions??
But you know, It's still cheaper than buying a New one!!

I am having a problem with the blower motor resistor shorting and also melting to the switch wireing harness. Does any one have any sugestions?
I can't figure out how to get the harness compleatly out to replace it.
Thanks in advance...

I never had a problem with the wiring harness but the resistor pack is a regular occurrence. I think I replace it every few years.

Bought my 2000 dakota Quadcab 4x4 with 55,000 miles ,now has 136,000 Problems so far inlude tansmission ,front differntial, rearend,water pump , power steering, heater don't work that great,handle for my seat to recline broke as soon as i got it,cup holders broke and now I too am having the light problem. I am not a 4 wheeler and am not hard on my vehicles.It's just a POS. never buy one
