Subject: NOTICE--Cure for cold start stalling... IP: Logged
Message: Hey fellow Dak owners,
Wanted to let everyone know that there is a TSB #850 that has to do with the problem that some Dak owners with the 4.7L 2000 engine have with the engines stumbling and stalling upon cold start. I brought my 00 dak CC sport plus 4X4 to dealer and showed them "emission Recall" from alldata.com that has them do a bunch of computer stuff involving adding new software to the PCM that seems to have raiseed the idle to 650 at all times. No longer does it sit at 500rpm. They also put a sticker on the front of the engine compartment telling of this computer upgrade with regards to emissions. It has worked good so far. Just wanted to let you know.

Message: I had the same problem with my 2000 QC from day one. I subscribe to Alldata and found the cure with a TSB to update the computer. I had to take the truck in for some other work and told the service manager that there was a TSB for that particular problem. He then informed me that this was NORMAL for this truck. I have been driving for well over 30 years and I definitely didn't think it was normal. If DC thought it was normal then why the heck did they put out the TSB! Anyway, I printed it out and told them to do it anyway. Two months later I haven't experienced the problem. Another two months and I am going to call the service manager back and let him know that it hasn't happened since.

Message: This upgrade also fixed my Overhead Console MPG. I took it in when I saw a TSB and they did the "Performance Upgrade" flash. After the first full tank, it showed 17.6 and I calculated 17.9. It used to be 2-3 MPG off!

Message: I cleaned the IAC (idle air control) on the throttle body. After removing the IAC and cleaning, no more problem. It was gummed up so it may not be sealing properly or not letting enough air in or too much air in when gummed up. THat's my theory anyway. It has always idled in the 600 to 700 range and still had the cold start stalling before cleaning. Actually, stalling began to occur around the 20,000 mile mark.
