Anyone having trouble with intermittant wipers on the 2000 Dakotas? In particular, mine seem to run fine when the truck is stationary, but seem to randomly go... well... really intermittant when the truck is moving. The Dealer says they can't find anything wrong, it's really more of an annoyance than anything I suppose.

Just got the module replaced for the second time. The first time it worked well for about 1 month then started acting up again. The mechanic couldn't repeat the problem so I went in and showed him. Took me about 30 seconds to make it fail so I don't know what his problem was.
I hope this is the end of it.

I'm begining to think it's not the CCM, but the wiper switch itself. It seems to work FINE at some settings, but worse in others. I'm learning to live with it. :0)

Heck, usually I'm going so fast intermittants are useless!

I have had episodes of Zen intermittancy, where the wipers work when they feel like it. I agree with another post that it is the contact on the switch versus the control module.

On the slowest setting, sometimes they'll cycle three times in a row, then sit for 20 seconds the cycle once etc.

Naturally this won't happen at the dealers, who can't recreate this problem.

Hopefully if enough people complain they will do something about it.

Don't ever settle for the dealer response "we don't see the problem". Sometimes you need to take them by the hand and show them. The switch may need redesigning. We must keep bugging them or nothing will ever get done.

My 2000 4x4 standard cab 3.9 does the same thing.Of course the dealer can't make it do it.
I printed some of the other responses to this problem and will show the dealer. This time I will demand that it be fixed!! (third time a charm)

I too had an intermitent problem with my intermitent wipers on my 2000 RC 4.7. dealer (5 star?) said problem could be about 6 different things and couldn't replace anything until they could find it failed. Then problem seems to have resolved itself after wearing out a set of blades -has worked fine for many months now but will problem come back as truck ages ? Please advise if you hear of a TSB on this. Thanks and good luck !

In some cases, poorly shielded high speed computer lines can couple their signals across to regular single conductor copper wires in a wiring harness. If this happens, you can get false triggering in other systems in the vehicle, and may be the cause of the wipers not following the proper cadence. The best thing to do is try to document exactly what is running, your speed, the phase of the moon, and anything else that is happening the moment you see the wipers starting to wig-out. RF interference problems can sometimes wreak havoc with systems if the high speed lines are not properly terminated. Sometimes clipping a ferrite ring around the bundle is all you need to supress these signals. I'm still trying to figure this problem out, too. My dealer won't commit to even trying to solve the problem until I can readily reproduce it. Good luck

My '01 QC has the same intermittent wiper problem. With respect with TonyC's comments, has anyone reversed engineered the wiper controller? It would be nice if we had some idea what the circuit was to help the DQ 'dealer experts' do their jobs.....
