Subject: 10's or 12's or... IP: Logged
Message: if given the choice:
you can fit 2 10's in 2 sep boxes, with little effort...(I have boxes that WILL fit in my QC, behind the rear seats, but hold 10's. No the seats won't lift anymore)
or, with quite a bit of effort, being able to get 12's or even 15's...(I also have tanneau, and a cut-through isn't out of the question. Thanx joe)
is there much of a difference vs. effort?

Message: 10"s are lighter - thus they are faster to react to music. This also makes them easier to "push" with a smaller amp. They may not go as low as 12"s but unless you have an Epicenter and a huge amp you'd never know anyway.
I went from 12"s down to 10"s and my current install is going to be a single 8" Either I'm getting old (huh? can't hear you) or I actually know what I'm doing now ;)
Even better - put in FOUR 8"s... that's better two 12"s.

Message: well... If we are talking theory ..... 2 12's will push more air than 2 10's thus making sound (I read that somewhere). Then again most can make a 1 10" DD hit harder than a 2 12" planet audios.

Message: That's kinda why I'm asking, I mean I KNOW 2 12's CAN get lower and louder, IF you get the right kind, in the right box... blah blah blah
BUT if putting two 10's in your truck is easy, and putting two 12's in your truck is hard... both CAN be done, what is it worth? a little lower note, maybe a little louder?

Message: 10's may have a smaller MMS, yet this does not necessarily mean that they are more efficient with less power. Although they may move a little easier with a 100 watts, a 15" moving less will still push as much air, thus making the same SPL. If you want a sub that performs with low wattage, look at sensitivity.
Four 8's will get a lot less deep and have a lower output than two 12's. (If the same brand 8's and 12's

Message: Hey curious, Can you tell me more about your woofer boxes. Dimensions, brand, etc. I also have a quad cab and am interested in getting some bass in it. I have been waiting on the blaupunkt saucer subs to come out. The company told me they would not be out until the beginning of next year sometime. thanks

Message: I bought two 10" speaker boxes from a pawn shop here in J'vill NC. I'm not sure on the measurements (I'm at work) will look at them when I get home. Paid about $40.00 for the both of them, they were new...and I have seen them online somewhere, but I will have to look. They are covered in a thin layer of fake leather looking stuff, and are black with red sides. The only problem I have found is that they BARELY fit behind the back seats. One thing that would make them a LOT easier to put in would be to remove those little air vents on the back wall of the cab, behind the carpet layer stuff??? I haven't taken those out yet because I'm not sure what that will do, but the boxes would absolutely fit back there if you did, and would hold a 10" each, and I believe are JUST under a foot/sq.
I will get the dim's and hopefully a web page ASAP

(you can find them cheaper than this place, most of the pics are for 12's)
DATW10E 10" Sealed 5/8" MDF Truck Box (pair) - 0.517cf each (ewww not a lot of space in there :(
I haven't put subs into these yet, so I don't know if they are good quality, but they fit so one day I might use them???
