Subject: need more help on door speaker install! IP: Logged
Message: ok.the 6.5" polk mids i am putting in the factory spot(door):there is a a mounting ring from the factory speaker,if you do not use, there is a space left in between,and no room to mount screws.if you use the plastic ring there is no place to mount either.what have you guys done?

Message: Make your own ring out of MDF (1/2" - 3/4") and mount that to the door so it covers up the entire hole. In that wood ring you will cut a hole to fit your new speakers, and screw them to that wood. Seals up the hole and makes for simple installs.

Message: What you may also consider is sealing the MDF with some sort of epoxy or something to prevert rattling. The speaker may vibrate the MDF against the frame. Or you could consider a small chunk of DynaMat.
