Are you pleased with your Memphis 500D amp? I was looking into that along with a loaded Thunderform, but it said it only puts out 250 watts at 4-ohm which the Thunderform is loaded at. Let me know how it sounds. Thanks!

To be honest Id have to discourage you from getting the Memphis Audio.
Id say the MTX 250D is alot better amp, maybe even the 500 D, but it might be alittle much unless you turn the gain down.
I just installed 2 MTX8000 10's and a MTX 250 D in a 91 Dakota
Man that thing rocks

Does that box give a final load of 4 ohm or 2 ohm? If it was a preloaded box it's only running your amp at 4 ohm and therefore you aren't getting full power. Try swapping drivers and I think you'll see a big improvement.

A pair of 8000 10's should have more power than that. I'd recomend 800-1000 watts.

Its 4ohm load.
I previously had an Infinity 300 watt amp and have also tried the MTX 250D on the thunderform.
The Memphis stuff just doesnt compare.
Ive been totally impressed with the Thunderform, great sound, looks and its a little hard to steal !

So you are using an amp that is designed to produce power at a lower impedence and then saying you aren't impressed with it's power output... We ran a 1000D down to 1/2 ohm in a team members blazer on a pair of 15's. Produced gobs of power. It didn't get hot but popped the onboard fuses after a few minutes of listening. Changed the fuses to slightly larger ones and it played for several weeks till he changed to my single DD. It's now running at 1 ohm.

Understandable,but
the loaded thunder form is a 4 ohm load
so no matter what amp i use, i rate is quality on sound produced at that load,
The MTX and the Infinity both blow the Memphis Audio away !

The MTX was a 250D and the Infinity= 300D,
Memphis = 500D,
Arent most amps rated at the 4 ohm load?
All mine are.
So why does a 250 and a 300 out do a 500?
No answer needed. Ive tried all of them on same setup.
MTX ROCKS!!!

The memphis amp is rated at 250 watts at 4-ohm, and 500 watts at 2 ohm. This is why the others are outperforming.

Road-e,

So you bypassed the Infinity amp that came with the truck? Are you not using it at all now? If not, what might you want for it? Was it worth a darn? I want some extra power but not to the point where I will go buy a big amp, would rather have something I can put in the factory amp location and hook up to my Bostons and my Eclipse.

Nice clean look !!

When you bypassed the stock (premium) infinity amp, did you by any chance write down the wire diagram, color to color, cut and connect ?

If so could you post it here ?

Why not upgrade your head unit? You've got all that $ invested in everthing else. I'm getting my new head unit installed on Friday a Eclipse 55060 which is a non powered head unit. I;ve got a Kivker ZR 360 drivin my 2 Kicker VR10's & a MTX 6304 on my mid's & high's. But I'm Thinkin about gettin a 5 channel Memphis Belle to power everthing. What do you think is Memphis good for the Money or are they overpriced? Appricate the advice.

Izzy, it's not worth all the work to hook up the infinity amp. It has 2 plug in one for speakers and one for low level inputs and power. To seperate all these wires and hook them up would be a real pain and imo not worth it. You'd be better off buying a real amp.

I agree with JD, you should lose the stock deck and line converters. You'd see an improvement in sound. Although you seem to be going for a stock stealth look I'd still change that deck. You might consider recessing the cd player in the dash and then making a false front with the stock unit that would hide it.

I don't want the stock amp, replaced the headunit with a JVC, didn't realize there was an external amp. I did not wire out the blue/white from my new head unitto the adapter's blue , went straight to the main sub's amp... power out. who thought I would need it, but when we powered up there was sun sonic vibes but no sound form the factory spkrs.. Now I want to eliminate the factory amp, it only amplifies the noise, and go straight to the spekers without having to rewire both doors and the rears..

Sounds to me that all of your systems are pretty weak, but if anyone cares mine tapped 161.2 Db 1ST in class and straight kicked everyone in the butt at all of the competetions that i have been to. Get some more subs and alot more power and post back up with something that really bumps hard.

Oh by the way i hit 161.2 on 2 twelves and a 350 watt amp so get some new speakers and amps and a much better instal and box build then open your mouth.

Besides appearence i would be willing to bet that your motor is also pretty weak sort of like your system. Anytime you want to meet up and see who's system hits harder or who's truck is faster just let me know. Because where i am from there is no truck faster than mine and there is no system even comparable. I am also from a big city. Here are a list pf a few of my mods. Magna Charger 12 psi, mopars heads and cam, weld drag lites and a 75 wet shot of juice. Those are just a few. Oh i lied about my system i really have 4 12 in. eclipes dvs with a Bd1000 on the those and 6 in eclcipe components in the door pushing those is 620 watts from the eclipse amp. Eclipse Cd and a custom build box well worth over 4000$ so when you get some money or a better job post back up, or meet me at the track some time, or i will even take you to the system comp. Whenever or wereever just post up.
