Subject: trouble getting sound IP: Logged
Message: I just installed a new head unit, amp and two 10 inch woofers in my 97'dakota. I'm getting sound out of the two 10's,but nothing is coming out of my factory speakers. I checked my wiring and it seems to be o.k. Should there be anything else to check?

Message: How did you wire it rca's to an amp then to your subs and run the factory ones off the head unit? Some head units will shut down the high outputs if the low out puts are used.

Message: Similar prob... 98 dak-slt cc w/premium sound..
Removed factory cd/cass, installed the jvc from the old honda... wired it 1 for 1 to the new adapter harness.. power it up, the head unit looks like it works, but no sound from the fac. spkrs..
Powered up the amp, and the kickers kicked in..
The problem was that I mistakenly looked at the wire harness from an engineers stand point, and did not wire out the Blue, (pwr antenna). To me I said this is remote out to my amp, don't have a pwr ant. so lets go straight ot the 1000 watt amp.
Well guess what, that was my mistake, the blue/white from the JVC, connected to the blue remote power sense to the amp, but dodge premium sound also has a small amp in the pass. side kick plate.. and this wire turns on the remot amp.. Wired the blue/white from the HU to the blue in the harness and also to the amp, and all is working well now..
Someday soon I plan to replace the internal spkr.s and will eliminate the premium amp. It is now in series with the JVC and serves no useful purpose.
