I have a feeling I will be buying a new amp soon. Sometimes when I turn my sub up, the amp shuts off, and will not come back on until I shut the power off.
The amp (Hifonics)is about 5 years old. For the last 4 years, I have been running a 3 ohm load in bridged. It has rarely overheated (it states it is 1 ohm stable, so I would assume anything down to a 2 ohm load bridged would be safe)
Has anyone run into this. Is the amp shot, or could it possibly be a poor connection that is forcing the amp off.

obviously the amp is overheating...possibly because of the age of it...try changing the ohm load...if that dont work or isnt enough power for u id get another amp...

The amp does not seem to be very warm to the touch at all when it shuts off. I bought a new amp last night to replace it, but have yet to install it. I was running it very hard trying to get it to shut off, and it only did so after about 20 minutes or so. Previously, it had taken only a few seconds to shut down even when it wasnt running very hard.
Any ideas what could be wrong?
When it was shutting off more easily, I re-ran the sub in series for a 12 ohm load, and it still did the same.
I am just trying to avoid spending a couple hundred bucks on an amp if there is an easy fix to the current one.

i have a (HIFONICS)Zeus generation X, and it doesn't work. Iam from Puerto Rico and there is no authorized dealer, for my amp. i want to know were can i fix it.
