Subject: Help for sound system IP: Logged
Message: Im looking at improving the sound system on my truck and was wondering what people would reccomend for a good head unit. Im not looking at going competition i just want something that can handle a decent amount of bass and some other stuff without me having to upgrade it later. I have no idea about sound systems whatsoever so any input is appreciated.

Message: well you dont have to worry about the head unit handling bass since it has nothing to do with it. the only thing it would do to bass is control the level of it. personally i like pioneer, alpine, jvc, and panasanic hu's. you'll probably sepnd around $200-225 for a decent head unit. if you want one that plays mp3s as well they are a little over the 300 range. you can find head units alot cheaper than 200 but with stereo equipment you definitly get what you pay for. just go into your local stereo shop and tell them the setup you plan on running and they should fix you pretty nice.

Message: Take a look at the pioneer deh-6400. It runs $284 (maybe lower now) at best buy. It has an internal amplifier of 50x4 and so many features for the price. I really do feel pioneer is giving consumers more for the money and still retaining their quality.

Message: I'm running a pioneer 7300 and it's great, it controls my 3way pioneer door speakers(6.5") and my 12"L7 Kicker SoloBaric and my Rockford Fosgate 1000watt class D amp. I'm looking to upgrade from this but just to let you know the neighborhood kids love it and are always asking me to bump it. It took me a while to get to this, i blew up about 5 subs and 2 or 3 amps, eventually you get tired of spending money on cheap stuff and you get something nice. As far as speakers go, KICKER is the way to go. Pricey but well worth it!

Message: MB Quart are awesome---I Agree. You can pick up a set of the lower end MB's on ebay---that will still sound awesome---for around 150 shipped. That's 6.5---a tweeter---and seperate crossover module.
