Message: Thanks for the links... I am not putting the system in for a week or so. I would love to look at a how to web page when you get it finished. I am still concerned about the dash so if you have any info let me know... One more thing.
Do you know if you can buy the homelin computer that goes in the overhead console. My Dakota did not come with one but might be nice to have if it isnot real $$$$$$.
Thanks

Message: I have a 2002 Quad Cab. IF you are puttin a half-din head unit u need to make sure that you get the CORRECT addaptor for it. I believe on the 2000 quads it has the same dash as the 2001 and 2002. The older dakotas (97-99) have square edges and the newer dakotas have rounded edges. Now for takekin the dash off, there is 3 screws underneith the steering wheel, then believe there is 2 or 3 more screws underneith the head unit area. There is also 2 screws above the gauges that you have to use a short screw driver to get to. (I would look at make sure but my trusk is in the shop since I got hit by a Semi truck). The rest of the dash should pop off. Be careful about the head light switch, it is still attatched when you pull off the dash. Now the door panels. There are 3 screws, 2 are on the very bottom of the door panel and the 3rd one is hidden behind the door handle. After you have removed these screws, lift the door pannel upwards and pull it out. Next you have to pop off the 2 door lock bars(just push them to the side) then un-plug the electic window and door lock. Then your door pannel is off your truck. Now if you want subs, I ordered planet audio neo subs which is a 10" sub but it is only about 3 1/2" deep compared to an average sub which is about 6 1/2 inches deep. I am going to make a custom box to be put behind the back seats. I will let you guys know how that turns out.
