At once I was looking into putting these in my ext cab. The amp that I really wanted to put in was an Orion 1400 Xtreme. Not sure about how much you have to spend, but save extra if you have to for the amp, its worth it. What does everyone else think about putting an Orion to power it, I have always loved Orions. And by the way, in an ext cab or quad cab (I guess you have one or the other) that will make you go deaf, ear plugs recommended. _KrEzEr_

i have both, 95 dodge dakota x cab and 2002 quad cab, some dealers say that memphis audio is a good amp, on the other hand one audio place in college station highly recomended the US amp line. just wondering so i wouldn'tkeep on buying amps that have dissapionted me, thanks.

You dont have to say anymore about orion stuff.. LOL,, anyone thats familiar with this board knows how i feel about orion.. thats all im running right now.. as far as the orion xtreme amp goes.. yea good amp.. but go with the Orion Hcca 275 amp
you can have that sucker at 1200 watts x 1 channel @1 ohm i beleive.. 2 channell at 600watts.. and thats underrated.. so you can pound the piss outta your solo barrics with it.. I have the Hcca Subs along with my two hcca amps and let me tell ya.. had to glue mirror on many times again and also just had to replace the slider window in the back.. blew it out..
i just told lesley how it was gonna do it.. and it did..

Us Amps are some of the best built amps period. In the same class you have Zapco, Arc and Phoenix Gold, you can't go wrong with any of the four.

Ok but if us amps are so good how come my freind was at a stereo comp.. ran his car thro.. with his sony xplode amp.. hit 152 then bought a us amp ran thro and hit 149.. switched back to his sony amp and hit 153.. something dont seem right if they are soo good.. and it was setup right and everything the sales rep for usamps set it up for him so nothing was done wrong.. just thought i would share that with you..

Joe, it might be your taste but your truck just has too much, um, stuff on the outside and I didn't see anything but the cd player in any of those pics. Anyway, that JBL is really hard to beat. Rated at 1200 watts produces right at 1400 at full tilt. Produces this power at 1 and 2 ohm. Allows for flexibility in adding amps later. You can usually find these on ebay for $275 with shipping. You may also want to look into the Boss REV3000D. Yeah I know it's a boss but I know people that run whole trays of these things and they're putting out 1250 watts at 1 ohm and have been very reliable. They also come with a 6 year warranty. Go to http://nexxon.com/specials/specials1.htm to get it the cheapest. Thats $219 shipped with full warranty. Dave is a great guy to buy from.
Joe once again I don't know what model us amps the guy put in your car but it must have been something tiny. US amps defenitley makes some of the best amps in the world. The are all built in the USA and 1 out of 10 heavy hitters is packing them. They produced the 2000X and 4000X which will both put out 3700 watts!!! They also made a VLX-400 and the USA800. These are some reall power houses as well. They are both around 4 FEET LONG!

yea yea yea i know how big theese amps are.. but when first impressions are the biggest thing it didnt make a good one on me so i wont use them..
and for my truck.. it did have too much stuff on the outside.. but alot of its gone now.. and to see the rest of my stereo there is a drop down menu that you have to select to go to the stereo pics.. if you cant find it i can send you pics.

US amps are good amps, but if you just dont want to use them just to not use them, then dont. But when someone mentioned "Memphis", that is a damn good amp. I have the 1100 watt Memphis in my truck pushing 1 Kikker Solobaric 15" and it slamms!
Another bad a$$ amp you may not have heard of, but is an awesome amp, is the Autotek "mean machine", not the "street machine". The Mean Machine is a great amp. Don't get the street machine, that one sux. I wouldn't hesitate to put any of the above amps in my truck. they are all great (except the street machine).

Man you guys are hilarious. If that guy put a USA800 or a VLX in your car for starters the current draw is in excess of 300 amps so unless you have at least 2 extra batteries and a high output alternator it aint gonna do squat. With a proper electrical system both of these will do better than 4000 watts. I don't know of any sony amp that does even 1000watts.
That memphis, decent amp but I hate to tell you, you aint getting 1100 watts. The only way you'll see 1100 watts it at higher voltages with the gain cranked and the distortion really high which is really bad. Real world tests it produces 997 watts. Still, it's hella small, stays cool, effecient. I've owned 4 of them, can't knock em.
Autotek mean machine and street machine are lines not single amps. They also have the super sport line. All of these lines have multiple amps in them. The old autotek's were ok but most of the new stuff especially the SS line are real garbage. I hooked one of the smaller amps up to a pair of 10's and with it cranked wide open the subs move 1/4" max. I was highly disapointed.

YOu guys are clueless, except for bigtymer. Current draw on a US amp would be way too much for an average sytem, not to mention the fact that you will destroy the 2 L7's with that much power since they are only rated at 750 watts RMS.
The amps that are best matched to the l7's are the Kicker 600 and 1200 models. And as far as the sony amp being louder than the us amp. The us amp just didnt fit the system (meaning the woofer, enclosure and vehicle. If components are matched right you can do big numbers in SPL and DB Drag with 1 or 2 woofers it is all in the ENCLOSURE.

i've personally had 2 12" L7's w/an orion hcca 275g4 and was hittin 152-153 consistently in dbdrag. people can say they hit this and that but state what meter it was on. there is a big difference between a linear x and a audiocontrol....about 6db from my experiences. i'd suggest putting at least rms to each of the subs....my personal favorites are orion, kicker, zapco, and for cheap amps i'd have to take jbl or mtx

Well since some of you seem to know a little about car audio I'll let you in on what amps I'm running. Soundstream. I've owned about 8 differnt ones and loved em all. I had 2 solobaric d-series 15's and a modded rubicon 702 and was doing 152's on a termpro mic. Now I have a tarantula and i'm shopping for second one. It's rated at 2000 watts at 4,2, or 1 ohm. I don't know of anyone who has actually bench tested one yet but I'm guessing between 3-3.5K It was 3 db louder than a pair of cfa1000d's and 4 1000d's was 1.5 db louder. The tarantula was only getting 11.5 volts to start and 10 after a burp and the crossfires were on a 16v system. Same subs, same box, same car.

Now now when were talking watts lets not go by the I.S.B.L rating(If struck by lightning) I like to go buy RMS. my Kenwood KAC-X501F is rated at 75x4 or 300x2 but I think the ISBL rating on it is around 1000. so becareful what you buy

zapco 9.0 >1000 under if you get it used (probably the best amp here 2000 watts, regulated power supply, and very efficient)
these are my choice for daily drivers all of them are very efficient amps except for the orion maybe, and most of them can be had for around 700-800 dollars if you deal hard enough.
any of these amps would push a pair of l7's nicely
i run a pair of concept 2400a's and i love em, just make sure if you go concept, that you get the new models and not last years crap...

Since it looks as if I finially found some people who know what they are talking about, I have two L7 10'S that I am trying to put in my 2006 GMC SIERRA EXT. I can't find a box that will fit under the rear seat. I have bought two boxes in the past two weeks and both boxes were to narrow of a space between the two subs so the box will not drop into place and let the seat drop into place. Does anyone know the correct box I need ad where to get it. I am f****** tired of buying boxes that will not fit. Ready the relax and listen to the bass!!
