Message: well i got my loaded thunderform (no amp) from jonas the other day and i got it installed with a rockford 200s amp, i originally wanted a matching excelon amp to go with my head unit, but i couldnt get one so i had to go to best buy and get the rockford. well i got it all hooked up, kinda tricky, and it sounds really good. it hits extremley hard, doesnt hurt my eardrums like some peoples cars but it definitley pounds. my buddy already told me he could hear me pretty far away. i cant hardly see out of my rear view anymore. i dont even have the gain on the amp turned up very high, or the bass boost at full, let alone the volume, lol. it is plenty for a dakota. the only thing that sucks is the back seats sit up kinda high. i'm about to take pics of the system now. hope that helps.

Message: subs without an amp sound like crap. they are not getting enough power to do what they are supposed to do which is handle low end tones (bass). they would be tryin to handle tones that they are not supposed to plus they would be extremly underpowered. if you cant get an amp i wouldnt even get subs. just get new compenent speakers. the bass isnt what kills your ears drums, its too low to do that. trebble is what hurts and hurts bad.

Message: Bass notes are worse in the long term for your ears. Tweeters play highs and may make your ears ring for a while but prolonged exposure to high spl and low notes is worse in the long run. Trust me on this I have a pair of 15's and almost 7K watts on them. It's bad for your ears. As to the no amp thing. A cd player only puts out around 12-15 watts rms which is not enough to operate subs. All you will get is lots of distortion and with something as small as the mtx 4000 series (thats what comes in the thunderform) you can actually burn up a coil.

Message: i have the t-form...and let me ask you guys...did all 5 of the mounting bolts on the mtx fit??? i could only get 3 of them to work, and i had to drill out the holes on the mtx and make new ones....the 3 holes hold just fine, but the workmanship is crap..anyway, ive got two 10" sony xplod aluminum cone subs in there, hits pretty well...using a lanzar amp under my seat that oeverheats if i turn the amp gain up over 15%...if i could put that amp up higher, it would hit soooo hard.
p.s...my brother is a sound engineer for boeing industries, and high pitched tones are FAR worse than low tones :)
