Message: Where did you mount that alpine??
I was thinking the MTX 6500D for the subs. You can usually get one on Ebay for about $300.00 shipped.
No one ever told me it was this fun!

Message: A JBL.300 would be perfect. It is underrated and runs about $125.

Message: The JBL amp is about 5/8" taller (2 11/16). So, depending on your measurements, it may fit. Don't get me wrong, a 6500D is a great amp. I own a MTX 8302 and it is a great amp. If money is not a big issue, go with the MTX, but for JL W0's, an amp that pushes around 1000 watts is not necessary. I was just trying to help on the cost.

Message: Only problem with the JBL is it doesn't have a built in x-over. So unless you have an equalizer or a cd player with a built in eq or low pass filters it's going to play mid bass and words along with the lows.

Message: I used a crossfire. It has a high and low cross over. Its a pretty good cheap amp.

Message: I have been using JL Audio's for many years now. I have found them to be the best sub for the price. Now for powering then I have always suggested PPI, that is what I use. I have heard other amps on them, but I still think that the PPI's really wake up the JL's. For two 12w0's you can safely put 150 watts of good clean power to them a piece.

Message: Bigtymer is smoking some good sh1t!
The jbl does have a lowpass filter and goes from 32Hz to 320Hz. Not a very good one, the knobs are hard to determine where it's set at but it definately functions fine!

Message: Only the new powervalves have the built in x-over. If you get one that is old stock, a refurb or from ebay, make sure you get one that has a x-over. My friend has 4 of last years models in his truck and none of them have a x-over.
