Subject: Help Choose Amp IP: Logged
Message: I need your opinions on which amp to buy to power the co-axials I'm putting in the place of my stockers. (6 1/2" Infifnity Kappas). I need a 4 channel amp that will fit under passenger seat and I've narrowed my choices to:
Alpine MRP-F200, About $140
40x4
Rockford Fosgate Punch 300X About $175
37.5x4
Tha Alpine is a little longer but I think it'll fit. I'm wondering about power, sound, and longevity of the product.
I've heard the RF's power outputs are under-rated. I've also heard the amps are crap. Alpine seems to be pretty solid.
What do you guys think?
Thanks

Message: I would get the Alpine, its cheaper and they sound cleaner. RF amps are underrated but they arent crap they just tend to have overheating problems allot. Go with the Alpine.

Message: I've checked out the kicker before and it is nice but it is 22" long and won't fit under my passenger seat.
Anyone else?

Message: The two brands thats you are looking at are both good, I've had Kicker, Fosgate, Precision Power, even a Walmart Jensen amp when I was broke. Kicker amps are great, but like you said it wont fit. I havent had any problems with my RF, its an older Punch 800W (forgot the series) and right now I have two Kicker Comp VR 10's and two Kicker 12's running off the RF and it sounds great. As for Alpine, I've always liked the brand, and I've had 3 Alpine decks, all were great, and Alpine is known for quality also, Id say go with the Alpine. If you think you'd want a Kicker, they also make amps that are smaller, the one I had I believe was a 400a (I might be wrong with the letter) and its only about 10"x10" and it put out enough power to make two 10's hit pretty good, so it would be good for what you want it for also. So I'd say Alpine, or if anything else, a smaller Kicker amp.
- 01 Ram Quad Cab Sport, 360, Accel coil, JET Stage II chip, Jet 180 stat, MSD 9.5mm wires, K&N 2nd Gen FIPK, Flowmaster -- no turn-downs -- no pipes -- a lot louder and a lot better sound, Borla headers, Richmond 4.10, Comp Cams magnum 360 cam, Hellwig rear sway bar. /// Kenwood Excelon 879, Rockford Fosgate Punch 800W 2ch, 2-Kicker Comp VR 10's, two Kicker 12's, Fosgate Component/Tweeter set-up, Kicker 402a 2ch, Monster Cable and Fosgate wiring.

Message: Blaupunkt PA T-class series. They sound great and give off very little heat. I would suggest these for very tight mounting areas. I have the PA4100 mounted inside my center console.
Just check'em out and you decide.
I don't like the RF's......they make ok stuff and CRAPPY stuff.
Good luck

Message: I havent had a problem with a rockford amp over heating. but never been mounted under the seat either. but for running co-axials i doubt there would be a prob with overheating, the kids that overheat them problem running at 2 ohms or less, and having the systems cranked all the damn time. but from my experence rf was great
i did have those rf amps cranked all the time back in the day still never overheated
i kinda grew out of how loud fast, went to how clean or musical, much better if you ask me
if you want too, look into components they sound way better then any co-axials
