Subject: Installing speakers? IP: Logged
Message: Just want to know if 6 3/4 speaker size is much different from 6.5. If I wanted to install 6.5 in my dakota cc would there be a alot of configuration required? I read a lot of guys putting in 6.5 but the opening's in daks are
6 3/4 according to Crutchfield. Is it worth the extra money for the 6 3/4 cause they are hard to find on ebay! Thanks for any input!

Message: Just get some 1/2" or 3/4" MDF and make a spacer the size of your old speaker. Mount that to your door/side panel. Then mount your new speaker to that. It allows you to have a different size speaker the stock, easier way to mount, less vibration, and doesn't cause any clearance problems.

Message: Pistolero,
MDF Stands for Medium Density Fiberboard. Just go to your local Home Depot or lumber yard and ask for 1/2 inch MDF they will know what you are talking about

Message: Thanks! I was thinking that it must be something like that old stuff we used to call "masonite".
