 Subject: using the factory amp?

I have the infinity system in my Dakota. I want to replace the head unit, tweeters and door speakers. Do I have to use an amp for the 6 speaker system or can I splice the tweeters into my door speakers and just use the head unit alone to power all 6 speakers? Do the crossovers take care of this job? If I have to use the factoy amp, do I need a adaptor for the new head unit? How much are adapters? As you can tell I don't know much about car audio but I know I want a better system. Need help! Thanks!
