Subject: Reg cab, need speaker advice IP: Logged
Message: hey guys, i just bought a 2002 regular cab dakota and i want to swap the stock speakers with some that will sound a little better. this is a family vehicle so i can't install components or big amps, i just want some coaxials that will sound better than the stock ones and give me alittle more bass to groove to. anyone have any suggestions for me?

If you are looking for bass, I highly recommend that you go ahead and get one 8" or 10" sub to put behind the seat. I built one for a 2002 Silverado regular cab and it fits perfectly behind the seat. An amp can easily be installed underneath the seat, taking up no passenger or cargo room, whatsoever.
If you are set on 6 1/2's, go to the store and give each one a listen. The only problem is that using the door as an enclosure usually is not the solution for good bass output. If possible, I recommend building a sort of enclosure into the door out of fiberglass.

Message: I've got a 99 reg cab and have installed the
best sounding system I have ever had (or
heard for that matter) in it. 6.5 MB Quarts for
mid/highs in the doors and a 8" Eclipse sub
behind the drivers seat in an angled .5 cf box.
I've mounted a 4 way Phienox Gold amp to the
wall behind the pass seat changed the head
unit to a Sony C90, added a mini disc
changed and Audio Control EQX. This thing
rocks hard and would still function as a family
ride with seats going all the way back. Hope
this helps
