Message: When I had subs beneath my back seats, I removed the brackets that the seat cushions mounted to, and then bolted the seats to the top of my box. It raised their heigth by about 2" and let me put 2 forward facing 10"s under the seat.

Message: or you can get some matching bolts (longer though) and use a wood spacer. But you have to remember to support the seats and they may not fold up all the way. Your best option would be to mount them to your new box using new hinges or just straight to the box.

Message: When I did mine , Iused 3" pipe nipples , and 31/2" hex head 1/4-20 bolts , with washers. Just take the bottom seats off , and put the nipples on the hinge. Slide the bolts through the nipples and into the bottom of the seat. I'mm telling you now , this is a pain in the neck!! NOT KIDDING , it really hurts. I then put 2x2 strips on the top of the box. A full grown adult can sit there , and has MORE leg room , but less head room. And this things hits HARD!!! You will NOT be able to rais the seats up all the way , just enough to slide the box in and out , or show off your subs.
here is a pic of the nipples.

Message: Nipples (Plumming or Electrical) are just short lengths of pipe. I used 3" long by 3/4 round. Ask anyone in eather department mentioned above at Lowes and they will know.
No , its not a Thunderform , its homemade. It holds two JA Audio subs.
The thing along the back of the cab was there already. I think its a sealant of somkind.
It hurts your neck! You have to bend all over the place to get the bolts to line up under the seats! I had to rest the seats on the side of my neck , and have a friend PUSH them down to get them to line up!! All this while laying on my side with my arms under there too. I had to get out a few times , 'cause I was getting the "tunnel vision". Everything in the peripheral was starting to black out!!! I thing I was starting to pass out from blood restriction!! My friend thought it was funny. I was getting mad, hehe. But it was worth it!!
Before you put the box in and after you raise the seats , brace the seats up with something , so the weight of them wont put too much stress on the threads in the bottom of the seats. Thats what the red thing is on the left. Its a Skill jig saw box.
The bag was from Lowes. I have more pics of the box and the install. If you wan't me to e-mail them to you , I can. Just shoot me an e-mail.
Hope this helped!!

Message: Here is another idea depending on how much lift you need. Take a few washers and stack them under the seats on top of the brackets. I used them to lift about 1/2" because that was all that I needed.

| RE: How to raise Rear Seat in A CC IP: Logged
Message: I know this post is way old... but I was finally able to raise the rear seat in my 98 CC.
I was adding a modified Q-logic sub box below the seat; it was 3/4" taller than the original box (I added a new MDF baffle to allow a deeper speaker) and the seat wouldn't fold down over it properly. But I still wanted a folding rear seat, so I needed to raise the hinge (not just the seat) by 3/4".
I took a ~5/16" thick piece of aluminum, 3/4" wide by maybe 2.5" long. Tapped a 1/4-20 thru hole centered in one end and drilled a 5/16" hole through the other, maybe 1 or 1.5" below the first. I put a short 1/4-20 bolt through the original hinge mounting tab into this piece of aluminum such that the other hole was immediately below the hinge tab, and tightened it in place. Then I JB-welded 1/2 of a thick washer (hackedsawed in half) around the bottom of the clearance hole, so that there was a flush surface around this hole. Then the hinges are mounted to the truck using the original studs through these new lower holes. So I ended up needing 2 aluminum pieces per hinge, 8 total.
The critical part of this design is that the aluminum piece comes between the hinge and the wall of the cab. Basically, the hinge needs to be moved forwards (away from the wall) in addition to upwards, otherwise the back wall of the cab will interfere with hinge operation. I learned this the hard way -- and bent my hinges and the studs, and gouged up the back of the cab pretty good. I think that a 5/16" thick spacer is the minimum amount, probably 3/8" would be safer.
I also had to staple new clips to the lower backrest, since the hinges are now too high for the original clips. But now everything works and it looks great!
Also, Kenneth was absolutely right. My neck really hurts now.
