Subject: RE: MTX 6500D amps? IP: Logged
Message: I have used the 6500D for almost 2 years. Mine pushes 2 MTX 8000 Tens, they sound like four twelves. No BULL! It wasn't always like that though. In order to achieve these results I had to increase my altenater output, bought a yellow cap bat., I have a 1-farad cap exclusively for it, as well as a .5 farad cap going to my 6304. No doubt, 6500D rocks but your gonna spend some money wiring it. In order to exercise its full potential. The 6500D is a mono-block low-pass amp. Its small in size but extremely solid (has some weight to it) It has 3-25amp fuses on it. Consider at a minimum of; 4-guage power lead, I use a 150amp fuse in-line from bat., a capaciter, strong battery, SOLID Ground, & subs that LOVE lots o POWER.
Overall, I love the amp but it probably isnt for everyone. Mine was bench tested at 623watts @ 2ohms with less than .03% Distortion. But if you begin to chinse out on any of the above factors, just as any amp distortion% increases. My favrotite feature of the amp is the EBC (electronic bass control) knob, Mine's mounted on my center console. Its nice for those who listen to all kinds of music

Message: what about the TA3202? it seems not strong enough for my Pioneer ts-w256c 10" sub...so I am going to buy another amp, 6500d is one of my choices. Does TA3202 really not strong enough for it?
