Subject: Another amp question IP: Logged
Message: I have an 02 SXT SC with the stock alternator. I currently have an aftermarket head unit, 6 1/2 speakers in the door and tweets running off a 50watt x2 amp. I am adding 2 10inch subs and a 300watt x2 amp. (amp is about 125 or so watt RMS x2) will I need a cap or should I be OK? I have no other accesories such as fog lights or anything on the battery. TIA
by the way, love my Dakota. Just found this site today.

Should you get a cap? yes
It will help with high demands of bass and keep your lights from dimming. It also acts as a buffer between the battery and your amplifiers, this helps out your charging system and keeps noise from entering your amplifiers. Pick up a 1 farad cap on ebay, put in line before any/all amps and you will enjoy the music more.
