Subject: MTX Install Question

Message:
Okay
I installed my amped thunderform a couple of weeks ago. I didnt want to spend the $ so i just ran it to my factory head unit. The subs quit on me a couple of days ago so I went in and a tech said that I wasnt getting enough power from the remote line. He suggested running it to the ignition to get the proper amount of volts. (I was only getting 6 instead of the 12 i need) They wanted $55 to do it. I said hell no. I want to know if anyone can tell me how to run it to the ignition. (Without killing my system and me in the process.) If not, I am gunna half to pay it. Please any help will be much appreciated.
Bob

You should really run 8 guage power wire from the battery to the amp. Then a turn on lead from your fuse box (find an outlet then is hot only when the ignition is on) to your amp remote turn on. The amp should also have a quality 8 guage ground as well. When you say you ran from the head unit are you talking about the power wire or the remote turn on?

Get yourself a spade connector and just slide it in your fuse box. There are a couple of spots that are empty and work with the ignition. You can pick up a cheap test light or multimeter to determine which one is ignition. or do the trial and error thing (key on hot, key off not hot)
