Has anyone had a problem with the factory Infinity 6 speaker system? I have a 2000 QC and if I turn up the stereo real loud, the music plays for a little bit, then there is this really loud buzzing noise instead of the music. The only way to get rid of it is to turn off the stereo and turn it back on. It doesn't seem to matter too much what kind of music it is, but the volume definitely matters, at low volume it's fine. I don't know if it's a speaker thing, but I don't think so. If anyone has any ideas let me know...

Thanks!

Replace the whole system. Depending on how much you want to spend. You can go with Pioneer's to kick a little ass, or you can go with Eclipse to kick some huge ass. Speakers, Id recommend Bostons.

You really have a few options...

a: it's a 2000, so maybe still under warranty...get factory to replace it for free!

b: could be an amp issue...look at Alpine 4 channel amps, fairly cheap and i've always had luck with them.

c: Deck issue, replace deck with aftermarket deck...i've always liked Pioneer.

d: new complete system

Thanks for the reply's

It still is under warranty, but I didn't know if that covered the stereo...I guess if they put the system together I shouldn't be able to blow it...

Who do you think the best person to diagnose this is? A dealer? A car stereo place? I'll give the dealer a shot and see what they have to say!

I got my truck back from the dealer today and they said that they think it was the "voice coil" in the left front speaker shorting out. They unhooked it and ordered me a new one. I cracked some tunes on the way home and had no problems, maybe that was it.....and it was all covered by the warranty!

Got to love that..

I have a 2000 CC Dak. I had the same problem, I was flying down the road with the music blarring and all the suddon this annoying screech. I turned the stereo off and it was gone.

About the one comment about replacing the factory deck, I already have, and it still did it. It is most likely the factory infinity amp that is in the passanger kick panel thats to blame.

I recently picked up a loaded MTX thunderform box, and have a MTX amp go to with it. Wiring it in was a pain (just figuring out which wires had to go where and such bcause of the factory amp) but the result is pretty good. Unfortunely I want it to sound better still. I plan on rewiring the factory speakers loosing the factory amp and adding a crossover to help put the bass and highs where it belongs because I noticed the factory amp loves putting out lots of bass even with it turned right down. But for factory I couldn't complain .... just the factory 6.5" speakers aren't really designed for bass, they are probably 3 ways.

Okay I just took off for lunch and had my speakers mess up twice, It hasn't happened in a while and twice in one day, geez, serves me right for writing this comment. Both times it happened right at the end of the song (with like 3 seconds left) and it only happened after I turned the bass back up to 0 (I normally have it at -5)
