Nothing special other than the fact that they fill the radio pocket better. Only problem is that they tend to be behind the regular DIN head units on features. IIRC Alpine just dropped their 1.5 DIN head units, they were almost four years old at the time.

I just went with a din head unit and a 1/2 din sub processor to fill in the space. You will still need to buy an install kit though.

Super Wal-Marts around here have a cheap install kit that has black plastic faceplates to cover up the space when using a single Din head unit. They have the electrical connector plug converter too.

what about the newer daks? my '03 has rounded corners on the stereo and the dash piece. will a 1.5 fit in there? i would prefer to have an in-dash eq than not have one at all..
