I have an '02 QC, and a set of Polk components to install. I'm going to mount the tweeters in the sail panels by the mirrors, but can't see a good place in or on the door to mount the crossover. Where are the rest of you with '01's or '02's mounting them?

I don't have a dakota, but jsut mount them under the dash. Find a bundle of wires or something under there and attach it with a twist tie. You don't wanna leave it too hard to get to (i.e. in the doors) because you may need to tweak the tuning later on.

Thanks for the suggestion. I was just thinking about the doors so I wouldn't have to run extra wires from the dash to the doors. Plus, it's just a basic passive crossover that came with the components, so no tweaking is available. Anybody putting them in the doors at all, or is it just undoable or a very bad idea?

Moisture and vibration will be an issue with the doors. Stick them inside or they will rust and rattle on ya.

You can put them into the doors if you can find a place on the INSIDE of the panel between the weather seal (thin plastic sheet attached the metal door skin) and back-side of the door panel itself.
If you worried about them getting moisture - seal them up in a Zip-Lock bag and duct tape where the wires go in & out. If your worried about vibrations mount them to the door skin with velcro and put some headliner material around them as a cushion.
I've never had a set rust or rattle after using the above steps. The key is getting them water tight and isolated from any metal or plastic to make sure it does not rattle.
Putting them in the kick panels would be nice, but it's a royal pain getting the 4 wires from the panel and into the door in most vehicles, especial those with the power goodies (windows, locks, mirrors).

Mine are in between the door panel and the plastic weather sheet as mentioned above. They are pretty big and they fit fine. I can't recall exactly where they are though because it was few years ago. I Just didn't want to run the extra wire for the tweets and I like to have the crossover as close to the speakers as possible even though it probably makes no difference.

i have an 01' and i stuck mine in between the plastic lining and the metal. it's about halfway between the tweeter and the woofer. i actually used some tapping screws with a little 2 sided tape in between the bottowm of the crossover and the door metal. i just figured it would be a good idea to have a little padding. i havent had any problems with rattling yet and it's been a year.
