Ok..Im building my own sub box for my two 10's using measurements found on this site. I have a 99 club cab and would like to be able to use the back seats still. My only problem, like most, is the stupid humps. What is the best way of working around them (measurements)?? And second, my subs have those holes in the magnets, how much space should I have between?
I've seen the pics that others have posted and would love to have a box that looks just as good.
Any advice would be great. Im pulling my hair out of my head. Why the hell would they make those humps?

Thanks in advance

Dave

The hump is where the drivetrain is located.

If youre building the enclosure all the way across the area under the back seat, and if you aren't willing to work with fiberglass, then just build the damn thing over the hump, you might lose more airspace than you would using fiberglass but you'll be fine most likely, you can get a good deal of space out of that area if you know what youre doing.

And if by "holes in the magnet" you mean the vent in the back, leave at least 1.5 inches, but preferably 3 inches. You can get by on 1.5 but 2-3 IF POSSIBLE is best.

What subs are you using?

you dont need 2-3" for the vent, just make sure its not in contact with the box. every car audio place i have spoke with said even as little as 3/4" is fine. How many inchs do u think a truck box gives the vent?

What does Phoenix Gold recommend? If you do not port the box correctly or the speakers are not designed for a ported enclosure you'll blow them and/or it will sound like crap.

How was the old box built (ported, sealed or bandpass)? What size was it (interior cubic feet)? If you liked the sound in your other vehicle I'd try to make it the same for the truck.

As for the rear vents, I agree with John S., those vents are designed to keep the voil coil of the sub cool, as long as they can get some air they should be fine.

Thanks for the responses..
My previous box was an enclosed bandpass with 4 ports. Not enough room to enclose this box obviously. My seats will be sitting alot higher than before so I need the space. I guess I will just have to try my luck with what I have and work from there.

Thanks again
