Subject: tweeter angles? IP: Logged
Message: Hi all. I have a 2002 Dak QC without the Infinity system. I just purchased a set of Polk Ex2560 components for the front doors. The tweeters can be flush, surface, or ANGLE surface mounted. I'm planning on putting them in or on the sail panel by the mirrors, my question is: has anyone experimented with these mounting positions to see which is best? I imagine not much difference between flush and straight surface mounting, but what about straight vs. angled? Any insight from those who already have tried this would be appreciated. Thanks.

Message: I put mine in the same place. Right where the mirror is at on the inside. Just point the speaker directly at your head and the imaging should be to your liking.

Message: I found cross-firing the tweeters sounds best in most applications. So, aim the driver side speaker at the passenger. This tends to focus the sound stage a bit. If you fire them directly at your head then your left ear gets overwhelmed a touch. The best thing to do is before putting them in test yourself by moving them around (and at different angles) to hear whatsounds the best.
Once finished, tell me how you like them - and how easily they went into the sail panels... I'm currently debating the Polks vs Infinity. I've always been a Infinity guy, but I installed some Polks speakers out on my parent's deck and was impressed by them.
