I have been doing a lot of reading through this board and have a couple of questions that i think will answer many more that i have.

What is the difference between component speakers and 3 way speakers?

What is a Tweeter?
What does the Coaxial type speaker do? What is it?

Thanks for all the help with this and the past posts.

Component speakers - seperate woofer, tweeter and crossover

3-ways can be coaxial speakers or seperates , the 3 refers to the number of speakers

Tweeter is the small 1" or so speaker that handles the highs.

Coaxial speaker is a single unit speaker that has a woofer with a tweeter mounted in front of it. Generally what you find in factory cars.

Components otherwise known as seperates provide you with a very high quality sound but can be a little more difficult to install and cost a little more.

Coaxials are generally cheap and easy to install, some companies make very fine ones that sound just as good as component speakers.

What R/Truck said!

Once you have heard a good set of components you'll never want coaxials (especially 3-ways) again. I only use coaxials for rear fill or when someone wants to keep the install real easy (quick-n-cheap).
