Subject: Where to mount the amp? IP: Logged
Message: Hey all, im looking for a place to mount my new amp in my '97 Dakota reg. cab. It doesnt fit under the seat and I was going to mount it on the back wall but how would I affix it there without screwing through the whole cab?
If im not making sense the back wall of these trucks seem rather thin- if I put a screw into it I would have screws going right through it. Any problems with this?
Thanks-
-John

Message: An idea that I use quite often is to move the carpet on the back wall out of the way enough to gain access to the sheet metal. Get a piece of 3/4" MDF and cut it a little bigger than the amp and secure it to the back wall with either silicone or epoxy. You can them mount the amp to that!

Message: Thank you for the reply that was what i was thinking of as well, so, I will let you all know how it goes! I have a regular cab and I built a box that fits an 8" sub that wont take up any seat travel, so I will post pics. Thanks again.

Message: I have a reg cab too, i mounted mine by taking a piece of really thick cardboard, and molded it to my cab. I then glued carpet on it and cut holes for my amp it works great. MY truck is an 88, so there was no carpet on the back wall
