I am not sure the exact power ratings---but I can tell you one thing----stock speakers suck!! You will be amazed at the difference if you just put in a set of coaxials to replace the stock set. You can pick up decent coaxials on ebay for 30-75 bucks a pair. It's well worth it.

I agree. I picked up a pair of 6.5" Pioneer Pioneer TS-A1667 on eBay to replace the rear speakers for about $45 brand new. They can handle way more than any head unit can dish out, and of course they sound way better than those paper-cone stock speakers. A good inexpensive compliment to some high quality components up front. $45 bucks ain't THAT much...

Keep in mind a head unit only puts out about 12-15 watts per channel.

The 45x4, 50x4, etc rating, that's its peak power. Even when they say 22W rms, it doesn't do that much--trust me.

Even if it did do a lot more, you won't blow speakers by overpowering them. I overpower my speakers by up to 80W in the past, no problems. Speakers are blown, basically, by stupidity (if you hear distortion it is your speakers HURTING, but people refuse to turn it down..) Something to think about when picking speakers..

I just put those same spkrs in the door of my reg cab today and they seem to have less bass than the stockers. Is that your experience? I'm thinking I might have them out of phase as with the stock wiring + & - is pretty much a guessing game. I'm gonna try reversing the wiring & see if it helps. Honestly, other than the crisper highs I liked the stock spkrs better.

Swapping the wires won't make MUCH of a difference, it will a little. It isn't really surprising you have less bass if you are running the stock head unit, cuz aftermarket speakers have a higher rms than stock speakers, and they perform best at or above that rms, but your stock head unit hardly gives any power, and the stock ones are designed for that.

Thanx Waltherone. I swapped the orig AM/FM Cassette for an Infinity unit out of a Chrysler 300. No amp, tho.
No biggie, I'm looking into a sub to round out the bottom end.
