Subject: MTX Thunderform and Amp placement IP: Logged
Message: I was wondering if anyone has ever tryed putting their amp in the middle of the thunderform where the jack storage is. It would take some cutting but if you got the bling it may be worth it. If any one has can you tell me how and how it turned out. Also I am getting the thunderform with a separate 4250d mtx amp and was wondering where the best place to put it is. I have a 1998 Dakota 5.2L v8, club cab, sport, 4x4. All replies will help. Thanx. DAK 4 Life

Message: Dont cut your box!! that box is specifically formed for a
certain amount of volume. My suggestion is to get a
good 6-ch amp to run the system, i have the rockford
fosgate power 600.5 and put it under your drivers seat.
or any amp that will fit under the seat, thats the best
area, it wont fit under the pasengers side because the
floor rises up. AS for subwoofers... I have tried several
types of subs in that box, the subs that come with it are
best fit because they dont stick above the ridgeline
where the seat sits. Performance or comp subs are
going to pose a problem because the surrounds stick
up and the seat sits on them, i trashed a pair of subs
doing that. I am in the middle of modifying my back
seat to sit about 1/2 an inch higher to clear the subs. I
have 10in Kicker CompVR DVC subs in there now, and
they sound the best BY FAR in that box of anything i
have ever tried. Email me if you have any more
questions.

Message: power series are great amps, I have the mono
150.1 pushing the two MTX subs, and it hits
as hard as I need. I was very impressed with
the sound. the amp fits nicely under the
drivers seat. If you are looking for an amp to
push the subs only, definately look into a
monoblock amp, and using a seperate amp
for the other speakers.

Message: mTx would be the way to go because if the system is all one brand the desibles and the thump is going to be alot better for the system because it is designed for it and the subs will handle good. But since you have a rockford amp then get the rockford subs it would soud a hell of alot better.
