Subject: is this a suitable ground?
IP: Logged

Message:
driver's side.... bolt in the tool tray under the back seats, close to the other seat. i filed some of the paint off

i get a little shock, sorta like touching a door knob in winter, whenever i get out of the truck and touch the body...is this just static or bad ground? (i've never noticed getting shocked by static in the spring/summer)

i got to wondering how good of a ground this was when i stuck a screwdriver to the terminals to remove the power cable to run it a different way through my dash and the thing shot a pretty decent spark. i jumped back, regained myself, tried again and it didn't do it the second time. something just didn't seem like it was supposed to happen that way...

if this isn't a good place to ground it, what are some easy to get to places that don't require any special tools (i have a limited supply at home, dad's work has all i could ever need but i don't like to borrow theirs and they don't like to lend) i would like to try to avoid having to do a lot, well really any, removing or drilling holes. if this isn't possible i guess what has to be done has to be done...

thanks in advance,
Don

I don't have a GenIII but I think that it will be a good ground. Any bolt going into the body or chassis can be used as a ground. My amp is grounded to the bucket seat bracket with is bolted to the body. Anyway, if it works it's a good one.
