Subject: adding 12" sub with stock cd player IP: Logged
Message: My R/T has stock cd player and the 6 speaker infinity sound system. I got my 12" sub and the box, amp is in the mail. Im going to have a local audio shop install it so I know everything is done right the first time. two questions
1) Will it be alright If I use my stock CD head?
2) Im looking to put the box behind the passenger seat. how hard is it to get the tool kit out and where are the screws to get em out??? I couldnt find anything anywhere! stuck in there reealll good! No wobble or anything when I pulled on it!

Message: You can use the factory radio as long as your amp has a high-low level convertor built in or you have to get one. Your audio shop can handle this no problem.
Is this 12" going into a RC?

Message: That's right!
You should be able to really thump with a 12" in a single cab.

Message: alright. got the tool kit off for the most part. but part of the thing is welded on there!! Took a screw out to see if it was what was holding it down only to see the cement floor lol! Thats another thing! Why put metric screws on a domestic truck?!??! But do you guys just bend those to |_| arms to look like _ _ _ so you can put your box in?

Message: OK...... how hardcore are you willing to go?
the only way to take off the jack frame is to drill the spotwelds free. Its not hard if you know what your looking at (as per whats a spotweld). If you never drilled one out, I wouldn't suggest doing it unless your ok with mistakingly drilling all the way through and seeing more concret...
then trying to borrow your buddies welder...
then to find out hes not really your buddy cause now he wants beer in exchange........
you get the idea! If you aint scared...... go for it. But it takes alot of skill and patience with the old drill and chissel

Message: hehe yah I know where the spot welds are. but im not gonna try that lol!! Maybe I'll just bend the rack down to get an extra couple of inches. I mean comeon, it is my passenger that's losing the legroom not me!
