 Subject: 2001 Stereo Replacement

I guess i put it on the wrong board first. But I am trying to find out how to replace my stock stereo with my JVC Headunit on my 2001 Dakota Sport, but i can't figure out how to get the old on out for one, and i can't find the kit to make the stock hole the right size, i have seen a picture on one but no were to buy one....If anyone has some advise or experiance please e-mail or post.

You want to install a single din unit in a 1.5 din opening?
To do that install you have to take the dash off around the stereo. This involves removing a few screws, disconnecting some wires around the headlight switch and giveing the whole thing a tug. Once your adapter kit is in you can remove that single din stereo with ease.
You should be able to pick on up at best buy or even radio shack.

Any chance you have a cd player on the stock reciever that you took out and want to sell it? I just got a 2002 truck that only has the cassette player.

I picked up a Scosche kit at Wal-Mart (here it is: http://www.sounddomain.com/sku/SCOCR1277B ) and got the wiring harness at Pep-Boys. Both come with the instructions you'll need to do it. Someone here has web site with all pics on how to get the dash off. I'm doing it tomorrow so I'll post some pics and directions on my site too.
