Subject: 99 CC 5.9 System Idea IP: Logged
Message: I'm planning on buying a '99 5.9 R/T within the next month, and I have a killer idea for a system. There will be no room behind the driver's or passenger's seats. I'm talking bass, and clarity, but my question is, what would be the best way to power these subs. I am going to have 3 Kicker Solo-baric 12" subs. The one behind the drive is going to be angled at the passenger's head, and the one behind the passenger will be angled at the driver's head. The one in the middle is going to be mounted inverted (purely for looks). I need to know what would be the best way to power these subs? Also, I want to get infinit kappa's put in up high in the back, and in the panels/doors (not too sure but in my '92 they are in the doors). My only question is, what would be the best way to power it, how about capacitators, and alternator? What do I need? I know my box is going to be custom built to spec's. How about dyna-mat, or another sound dampening material... what would you guys recomend? And as for entertainment, I plan on having tv's in the visors, a playstation 2, and I plan on using my CDX-M600 Xplod for the head unit. Any info would be appreciated, thanks! I sure would enjoy listening to ac/dc live and have the bass blow the doors of the guys with the rap.

Message: what ohm are your subs? how much do you want to spend on an amp? I hope your going to put the L7's in ported boxes, why not just buy 4? it would be a lot easier to match an ohm load with an amp w/4 subs, meaning you will have more of a selection of amps to choose from. some relatively cheap amps that would power 3 L7s are a d2, concept 2400, orion xtrpro 2400, 2 kicker kx1200's strapped together, 2 mtx 8100d's, 2 dei 1x00d's strapped together, etc

Message: 3-12ohm subs = 4 ohm
3-8ohm subs = 2.66 ohm w/ a D amp (best choice)
3-4ohm subs = trouble
You sound like a man with a plan. Replace your front speakers first, they are the most important. Dynomat, yes please. I would suggest running some dynomat on the back and side walls. A couple of 1 farad caps should keep your stock electrical system alive, upgrade battery and alternator later on if needed. Just let us know when you get started and we will help you out the best we can.
