Message: Here is my only complaint about my system. At medium to loud volumes it sounds great. However if I get above about half volume on my head the whole system shuts down. I turn it down a couple of notches and it powers back up. I think my amps are not getting adequate current during peaks in my music. so I am going to add a capacitor. Do you all think this will solve my problem. I am running a kicker 1252xi (about 500w bridged mono) to my subs. and a pioneer gmx624 (about 125w x2 bridged) to my highs. 4AWG wire to my distribution block and 8 AWG to the amps. Any help would be appreciated.

Message: Sounds like a ground problem, My system did the same thing. at 3/4 volume the amps sounded like they were cutting off. I relocated the grounds to a clean body point and replaced the rca(don't know if that fixed anything)
Double check all connections.
Friend had an amp installed locally and assumed all was done properly, 6 months later was checking out a cliping amp problem and found out the installer used a tiny small machine screw to get a ground to the body for over 1500 watts of amp power. Just a thought.
Any new pics of the box installed in the truck?

Message: I am pretty sure the ohms are right. I have 4 ohm loads to all my amps. and they both shut down at the same time. So I am going to check the system grounding hopefully wednesday, and if that dosen't fix it I add a cap. and if that dosen't fix it then who knows what the problem is.

Message: test it out by disconnecting one amp and crank it up, do the same with the other one, see if you can narrow it down to one of the amps being power hungry.
Then try putting an 8ohm loan on your sub amp, crank it up.
See if you can narrow the problem down to once source. Lack of power will not shut your amps down, unless your voltage is below 10volts. Try hooking up a multimeter to your amps + when playing music, it should stay around 12-14.4V.

Message: I turned down the gain on my sub amp and was able to crank it without a problem. And vice versa with the high frequency amp. I cleaned my grounds and made sure I had good grounds. That seemed to fix the problem, I had it cranked up and poped my circut breaker. however after I reset the breaker the same problem returned. And now my tweeters are fading in and out at high volumes. I am gonna put the multi meter on it this weekend and see if I cen track down the problem. Maybe the circut breaker. Maybe the ground. Maybe the high chanel amp. maybe the crossovers on my components. maybe gods way of telling me to turn it down and save my hearing :). Anybody with any other ideas Of things to check, would be a big help. anyway, new pics are up on sounddomain.

Message: You may be overloading your inputs on the amplifiers, turn the gains all the way down.
Crank up the head unit to 90% volume, then turn your gains up until it's loud enough.
See if that helps
Another thing is a speaker wire may be exposed and touching bare metal. This will shut things down too.

Message: Hey,
I have a Kicker 1252xi amp also, it does the same thing as yours, over 1/2 power it starts to get choppy (on the off but realy fast kinda like missing a note) at 3/4 power or higher it just shuts off, it goes into protect mode for like 30 seconds and when you turn down the volume it comes back on!
Anyway i tried everything, i removed my other amp and just ran the one kicker 1252xi with 4 guage wire, with a 115amp deepcell battery in the trunk as well and it still does the same sh*t.
Moral of the story the amp s*cks, Impulse was the cheapest kicker made and is no longer made for this reason! I mean the amp has an awesome power rating in briged mono (380x1 rms)but what god it a rating if the stupid thing shuts off at 3/4 volume!
If you had any luck with your amp please let me know what you did to make it work.
Later, Brently

Message: I have a kicker 1252xi and I had it hook up in my old car and it was hitting like a bolt of lighten. I have a dodge intrepid and installed my same system, without my 12 band kenwood EQ and it hits down low until I turn it over half way and the amps turns off or sounds like their is a power lost, but give me a little time and I will have it sounding like my old car, if that doesnt work the amp has to be retired for that new MTX thunder.

Message: I just installed the same amp in my car and I am having the same problem. I had a bandpass box in my trunk and switched to a vented and when I did it started to do this. I wondered if it had anything to do with the settings on the amp. I tried to find out some info on what the idea setting were, but had no luck. I currently have the Gain and bass almost all the way, LP turned on and the crossover set to 110hz. I think that may be the issue, so I am going to change it to 70hz and see what happens.

Message: Hey all! Maybe you could help me out....I just bought a Cerwin Vega Stroker 12"sub (4ohm) and I had a cumstom encloser built for it. (ported) What amp would be perfect to push this sub hard. Keep in mind the sub can handle 500watts rms and 1000watts peak. Thank you for helping me.

Message: Tom - whatever you do make sure you put a subsonic filter on the amp or you might blow the sub. Pick a Hz somewhere just below your boxes tunning frequency. I like HiFonics amps... but there are plenty out there that would do the job, all it takes is $$$

Message: after racking my brain for days about the compvrs i ended up ordering two comp c15s i hope the amp will run them.i know its pushing my luck.if not i have two 352xis i might have to run one on each sub.and use the 1252xi for the mids and highs.by the way the subs are 4ohm single voice coil. the amp should work with the subs ran parelel bridged mono correct me if im wrong but that should be 2ohm. unless the amp is only 2ohm stable running stereo.its so hard to get specs on a 10 yearold amp.

Message: Sorry to dissapoint you man, but the amp is only 2ohm stereo stable. if you run it with a 2 ohm mono load you will either run for 10-15 mins and shut down, but most likey you will fried the amp or blow it up. you can try it but it will not be what you want if you are going with a 2ohm mono load. you want to run 2ohm mono then go with a D-class amp. I am not a fan of them but i do run one, because it is more effiecent and it is less stress on your altenator, on the down side they do not sound as clean as a class a or ab amp. but when you talk about using alot of wattage them they are good.
Good Luck with your system
