Subject: Aiwa CDC-MP3 power problem IP: Logged
Message: Hi, I am having a problem with my new Aiwa cdc-mp3 player. I started out with installing the unit and the power stayed constant (even without the keys in the truck!!!). Then a friend and I figured out the correction for that one. Now, the unit has no constant power to keep settings such as clock presets etc when I turn it off. Has anyone else had this problem in a 2001 Dak? If so, is it a problem with the Aiwa unit or the trucks wiring?
thanks

Message: it is most likely a problem with the your wiring, and not the unit. i have the AIWA CDC-MP3 in my 2001 CC and it has worked perfect. sounds like you hooked the "switched power" to the power for the head unit, when it should be hooked up to the remote wire from the head unit. make sure you have the "switched" power connected to your remote. are you using a test light?

Message: I am a little new at this. What do you mean by
remote wire? A friend has been helping me
and we tested the wiring with a meter and
connected them appropriately.

Message: Are you using a wiring kit or are you cutting and splicing wire? If you are cutting and splicing and you've never done this before good luck you'll have a whole new headache. But it sounds like you have both power wires hooked up as remotes. One wire needs to have constant power that wire should have an inline fuse on it. The there should be the remote wire which should hook in to an accessory switched fuse.
