Subject: No sound after new radio IP: Logged
Message: I pulled my working Eclipse radio out of my 2000 Clubcab and put it into my 2001 QuadCab using the same wiring harness adapter and I get no sound from the radio.
According to the literature I see online, the radio/speaker wiring harness adapter is the same for both 2000 and 2001.
The only difference was that my stock 2001 radio had an additional 1 wire plug that went into the radio next to the 2 larger wiring plugs. My 2000 did not have that. Any ideas?

The extra plug/connector may be a ground wire. usually if it is it will be a thick braid of metal instead of several wires. find out which wire on the radios harness is the ground (more than likely black) go to autozone and buy a pin to fit into the plug and attach it to the radios ground wire. a lot of infinity sound systems use that extra ground wire.
you may also try finding a paint free metal surface and making your own ground. ireccomend taking advantage of the ground already in place.
try checking out installdr.com it has a lot of advice and instructions.
hope that helps.

Message: Thanks for the reply Resa. I really appreciate it.
It's not a ground. I probably coulda/shoulda been a bit more thorough in my original post. I used a wiring harness adapter from Circuit City to connect into the factory harness. My ground was a single wire with a black plug on it and it attached to the chassis of the radio, I connected that to the ground in my wiring harness.
With that being said, I got the sound working last night. When I was installing the radio the first time and after-wards made my original post, I forgot about the fact that I had the Infinity system in this truck so that meant amp. On last nights attempt, I connected the proper wires within the harness, for having an amp, and viola I now have sound...and it sounds pretty good.
In my original post, I mentioned <i>"The only difference was that my stock 2001 radio had an additional 1 wire plug that went into the radio next to the 2 larger wiring plugs. My 2000 did not have that. Any ideas?"</i> This wire has a small white plastic plug with a small brown piece of plastic on the end of it. It plugs into a connector next to the 2 main plugs for the rest of the radio wiring. I am unsure of its purpose. I'll post a pic of the back of my stock radio later to help explain what I am talking about.
