Subject: tweets through deck or inf amp? IP: Logged
Message: 99 Dakota cc with "infinity" sound system.
I've replaced the deck, the rear and front speakers; and ran new wires to all the speakers. Also have a custom built (by me) sub box replacing the tool caddy under the rear pup seats, housing an amp and 2 8"ers (I listen to metal, no need for any bigger subs).
So now I'm looking at the stock tweeters. I have two options:
1. splice the stock front speaker wires back into the wiring harness at the deck and let the infinity amp drive the tweeters.
Potential problem = either there's a short in the stock wiring somewhere or the infinity amp is bad; that's why I rewired to begin with.
2. splice the wire to the tweeters into the new lines that feed the front speakers.
Potential problem = I could blow the tweeters.
Advice?

The tweeters have built-in crossovers. So I spliced their wires right into the front speaker wires in the door (leading to the 5.5"s).
