Subject: Reinstall head unit - no power.
IP: Logged

Message:
I hope someone can help me - I had a JVC DVD player that I installed in my 2006 Dakota. I just removed it, and when I went to reinstall my factory head unit, I get no power at all to the stereo. I checked the fuses and they all look good. What gives? I have the standard single CD stereo, no amplifier. I am wondering if I was too clever for my own good and lost a cable. On the rear of the factory head unit, there is space for two plugs, and I only have the wider of the two plugged in. I felt around for another plug tucked in my dash but could not find one. I also plugged in the antenna and all of the other dash stuff is plugged in. What am I doing wrong?

I am avctually having a very similar problem in my 2002 ext cab. I just uninstalled a panasonic head unit and replaced it with a Kenwood Excelon 1-din DVD. I had it working great and all hooked up but not in the dash yet. Then after installing it I got no power at all. I tryed hooking up the old (panasonic) deck with no luck. Thinking it might be a fuse i checked all of them and nothing. I tested the battery (constant) wire (pink) in the factory harness and not juice to it. At this time i realized that i had no interior lights and my gauges were kinda acting wierd and not coming down when the truck was shut off. I am confused as hell at this point. I really hope someone can help me out with this one.
-Thanks-
