Subject: Wiring Amp W/Factory Deck IP: Logged
Message: I know this question has been asked before, but I am really stuck here and can't find the answer in the archives. I have a 2002 CC and I am trying to install an amp and MTX Thunderform box using the factory head unit. Where is the best place to splice a line-level converter in? Before or after the factory amp? Does anyone know the color codes for the speaker wires? Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.....My dash is all apart, seats out, etc...just trying to figure out the amp wiring.

Message: If you have most of the truck taken apart already you might as well take one of your factory speakers out and look at the color wiring on it. That should help you find the right wires to splice into. I would suggest you just tap into the back speakers to keep your wire length down.
If your using high level inputs (speaker wires) then it really doesn't matter if you splice in before the amp or after. It will convert the watts back down into low level volts anyway.
