Message: You can call Alpine at 1-800-421-2284 and get hold of customer service for their info on which application works best for your subs. You can visit www.alpine.com to send email and read pdf files of their subwoofer literature. You could also consult a local car audio shop and/or Alpine dealer for info on which enclosure might work best. Typically a vented enclosure will have greater output at the tuning frequency but a sealed enclosure will have a tighter, a little deeper and a more musical output. A vented enclosure is best for rap, dance, r&b, techno music. Sealed will perform better with most other styles of music, especially rock and country. The frequency band produced by a ported enclosure is not very wide but can be quite loud. A ported enclosure will usually require more input power (in watts) than a sealed one. A ported enclosure will have to be built larger than a sealed one so it may take more room than you have available if you have a single or quad cab Dakota.
