Subject: '03 Dash Removal IP: Logged
Message: I have an 03 SLT. I bought myself a new head unit for christmas. I have been reading through the forums about how to remove the dash. I have found a couple different things.
Some say that the dash just pulls out. And others say that there are screws that must be romoved and so on...
Can someone please give me a correct idea on what I'm in for? Thanks.

Message: 1- ***chock wheels***
2- Remove the screws along the bottom panel of the dash (4-6 of them) and remove the bottom panel while disconnecting the parking brake rod.
3- Pull transmission shifter into low so you have clearance, then pull the dash free from the clips. Yeah, it feels like it's going to break and is kind of tough to wiggle out.
4- If your successful, you have the dash in hand and the truck hasn't rolled down the driveway, see step #1 ;-)

Message: Just a question: To get to the stock stereo, do you have to remove the whole dash, or it is a piece around the stereo itself?

Message: The dash face is one piece that covers everything. There are holes in it for the stereo, hvac, vents, and gauge cluster. You'll see when you pull it off according to these instructions.

Message: Forgot, there are 2 screws above the gauge cluster, underneath the dash that also need to be removed. (if that makes sense...)

Message: Yeah. That makes total sense. I took a quick overlook to see what I'm in for, and I saw those and wondered. So really, you answered my question that I didn't get a chance to ask yet. Thanks again!
