Message: OK so I pulled out all my stereo stuff from when i had my honda and i had a nice pair of MBQuart premium 6x9.
I know the dodge takes 6.5 in the rear but I did alot of measuring and a little cutting and got them to fit pretty much close to perfect. I had to put them on a little angle, but they are sealed and sound great.
Tools:
ruler
screwdriver
wire snips
silicone caulk
1" self tapping sheet metal screws
Torx bit on an impact gun (i believe T47)
air powered reciprocating saw (you can use a 29 dollar jig saw, but its a little bigger and it takes a little more patience)
First i took the plastics out. Only two screws for each side, the rest are the yellow tabs you pull out. and use the torx for the seat belts.
I made a template out of cardboard easy enough and then applied it to 1/4 MDF. then took a ruler and pencil and marked off where the plastic tabs go and cut them out so i wouldnt rub on the plastic.
used some silicon and some longer screws and put it all together. I also had to cut two piece of plastc off where the plastic butts up against the body right below the window.
As of this posting ive got one side completed. im going to be taking pictures of the drivers side and ill post them.

Message: Glad to know it worked out for you. It sounds like a lot of work but Quart always did make a really good speaker, back in the day at least. I heard they got bought out by MTX or some other company and their quality has been really bad ever since. Somewhere around here I have an old set of Quart 6 1/2's that I'm pretty sure were some of the very first Quarts sold in the U.S. I worked for one of the first Quart dealers back in the 80's. Ran those speakers for about 13 years and they still sounded great when I retired them. Post some pics when you get it all done, would be cool to see it. Good work.

Message: OK all done. got some pics on photobucket. After doing the work i decided next time just to buy the right speakers. Doing this work actually saved me a few hundred bucks because i didnt have to buy new speakers.

I had to cut the little plastic tabs off. real easy with a utility knife. It still is a nice tight seal
