Subject: 1995 install IP: Logged
Message: Hey guys Im not a member or anything and i didnt want to guy page by page looking for it but does anybody know what i can do? I have a 1995 and i just installed a sony deck...the guy that owned it before me put in a pioneer deck...but my question is with the adaptor i bought the ontly time the deck works is if i pute all the red ignition power wires and the yellow constant power wires together...and there is another wire comming from the direction of the steering column that has a fuse on it anybody had this problem before? to answer a few questions first...No its not the deck the previous deck was wired the exact same way...and the only reason i want to know is b/c both decks lost everything (time/preset channels) when i turn off my truck. can anyone help?

Message: The red wire should be connected to the ignition. The yellow wire to a constant battery source (this is what keeps all your settings, channel presets, clock, etc,). Both should have an inline fuse. An easy way is to get a voltage meter and check for voltage when only the ignition is on (ignition wire), and voltage with ignition on AND with ignition off(constant battery source). 99.9% of the time a fuse is your problem. Check the fuse panel inside the truck and under the hood. Let me know if you're still having problems. We'll figure it out.

Message: It's likely the 5 amp fuse under the hood labelled F2. It's easy to short it out if you don't disconnect the power before doing the audio splices.
