Message: Removal of the center console (if you're referring to the 40/20/40 split bench) is simple...
Unbolt the seats, pull everything out as one piece...drill out the rivets holding the middle seat on. Then bolt the seats back in.
I'm currently planning a custom console, but we don't have any plans drawn up yet...still in the idea stage.
So far the plans are to put my 2 Elemental Designs 10" SQ10's behind the seats in a custom box. Then we're either gonna do an amp rack built into the custom console, or just mount the amps under the seats or something and build a custom console. I just want cupholders again dangit...lol
Oh and as far as a sub box goes...someone posted a LOOONG time ago with pics of a custom sub box that was built so it looked like the old middle seat...the bottom was a custom box, covered in carpet that matched the seats...and then the top of the old console was mounted onto it so it looked very similar to the old seat (it wasn't able to be used as a seat though). It contained I believe 1 10" sub. I just tried to find the pics the guy emailed me, but I don't have em anymore.

Message: I used to have a 2000 RC with the split benches. For a sub I used an 8" MTX.
As for enclosure,
I took my center seat out, stripped it down to the bare frame, rigged up a slight wire frame on the top side (if you do it, youll understand). Then I wrapped everything in fiberglass and did a wet lay-up. Cut an 8" hole in the bottom and called it a day. When reinstalled, you could use the cup holder, sit on it, and no one knew or could see the difference.
Not earthshaking, but it added clean, stable lows to my ride without reducing leg room.
I'm not sure if this applies to you, but I'm throwing it out there.
If I had to do it again I'd use an L7.
I used to have some low res cell phone pics of the install but I think I lost them. If I find them I'll post em here.
Hope it helps,
Jay

Message: what i did is made a ported enclosure in between the rear seats. i originally thought about using the center console idea but i couldnt get the amount of cubic feet i needed for a ported enclosure.
