Message: Hey guys, I have a 2003 Dakota SXT, and when I am driving with the windows down (at any speed), the radio is barely audible. I was curious if there was any easy fixes for this, or if a new stereo or speakers would be required? Thanks for all of the help, I am ignorant when it comes to these matters, and I really appreciate it!

Message: Wind noise, wind rush, tire noise and outside noise from other vehicles on the road with the windows down can easliy drown out the factory audio system in any vehicle. Dodge makes a pretty good factory radio system, but you might try upgrading to more efficient speakers that will handle more power and have a much better frequency response. Aftermarket radio/CD players nowadays have a lot of output power and a good unit and good speakers should provide better sound with the windows down, or up. If it still isn't loud enough after that, add a good amplifier and maybe a subwoofer.
To be able to really hear the system with the windows down will take a fair amount of power. Good components should not cost a whole lot. Shop around at car audio stores, Best Buy or Cicuit City and you'll find what you need.
