Subject: wiring s8l7 subs
IP: Logged

Message:
I have 2 Solobaric S8L7s DVCs 4 ohms
I have a Kicker KX600 Mono Amp
Am I able to wire these subs so the amp sees a 2 ohm load? Or am I only limited to a 1ohm or 4 ohm load?
I was checking on other sites and I think 1 or 4 are my only options.
Any help would just be gravy
Thanks

If your amp is 1 ohm stable, that'll be gravy. If it's only 2 ohm stable, hook it up at 4 ohms until you can get another amp. Or, just hook up one sub. I'm afraid that's all the options menu offers at this time:)

Thats what I thought.
2 ohm is the lowest for my amp.
I wired it to 4.
No biggy it still pounds for 2 8's!!

Thanks!

Well, you have one more possibility, but its silly. If you hook one sub in parallel, and the other one in series, and then wire them together in parallel to the amp, youwould then have a 1.6 ohm load. This doest make sense for 2 reasons. First, its too low of a resistance for your amp, and second, the sub at 2 ohms would be 4 times as loud as the one at 8. haha, i just wanted to throw that out there to get them all.
