Subject: Need help with amplified sub IP: Logged
Message: Ok, this is my dilema, I know very little about wiring, and am looking to hook up a CHEAP POS amplified sub (bazooka tube) to my 2000 Dak cc, is there anyone that can give me step by step directions to what I'm doing? the sub didn't come with them (did I mention POS?) and I really don't feel like frying my AVH-p5700DVD. Any help is appreciated.

Message: AK Dak,
Here's some links to Southern Audio Services (the people who make Bazookas) wiring info. If you have an aftermarket head unit, installation should not be too bad. There should be a 10gauge red & a 10gauge black wire on the Bazooka, red to the battery positive, black is chassis ground. The old ones had a 1/4 male spade terminal on the Bazooka, that is for the remote turn on from your radio. They also had RCA inputs, if yours does, you need an RCA cord long enough to reach from the sub to your radio. I seem to remember they had speaker level inputs too, green and gray wires. Green was left input +, Green w/black stripe was left input -, Gray was right + input and gray black was right input -. Nowadays they may be white for left and gray for right. If you have RCA inputs on your Bazooka and RCA's on your radio, that's the best way to do it. If your radio has RCA's for a subwoofer output, connect it there and you may be able to control the Bazooka from the radio.
Any car audio shop, Circuit City or your local Walmart will carry an amp install kit with the power, remote and ground wire and probably an RCA too.
It's not a difficult installation. Be sure to put an inline fuse at the battery positive connection in case the power wire shorts out it will just pop the fuse and not catch fire.

Message: You are welcome. When you get back home if you need more help with it, just post here. I check the board every day for info that might help me with my Dakota. And I'm sure others here can help as well.
Best of luck to you over there. Get home safe, and God Bless You.
Jimmy
