i just got two 10" sony xplods in a ported box froma pawn shop and i got a 600w amp powering them to my STOCK deck, yes its stock and was a bitch and a half hookin up. now i knew people who had xplods b4 and they were way louder then mine and didnt skip out on fast bass like mine does.
so my question is, should i trade in these subs for the 2 memphis 10s at the shop for 50 bucks more or just get a deck and hook up my $hit professionally?

i had a 10" sony xplod sub in my std cab. It was also hooked up to the stock deck. It sounded great....before it was FUGGIN STOLEN IN FRONT OF MY HOUSE!!
...but they left the amp so now I have 2 10's :)...even better.

Audiobahn is crap. Sony does make some pretty good car audio stuff, but not ones most people buy at Best Buy/Circuit City. I've had a Sony Digital amp for 3 years and it still works perfectly. No complaints.

I have never had any problems with anything from Audiobahn. I had a junk Sony amp it it could not handle the power. It would overheat too fast. It did not like 2 ohm mode.

Was it two ohm stable? Was there a short? was the ground good?
Were your gains set correctly? no bass boost turned on? Clipping
the amp at all?
Subs never "handle" an amp, its the settings that mess them up, so
there was a short somewhere (as happened to me), connections
were poor, or your settings were not correct.

I did not say I had problems out of the subs handling the amp. The amp could not sustain a 2 ohm load, which Sony says that it can. The amp would overheat. I have had problems before with bad grounds, but it was not the ground. The amp performed well when it was on, but after a lot of bumping really loud it would overheat. A simple fan installation would help it out and that is why I still got the amp because it did work pretty damn decent. Also, I have read many reviews about the amp and a lot of people had this problem, but oh well.

It sounds liek the amp was probably 2 ohm stereo stable, which is 4 ohm Mono stable. I dunno why they don't make speaker manufacturers post a note about this, because it can fry an amp easily!
Digital amps also generate very little heat, which was my number 1 reason for goin with my amp. I agree Sony can be crap, but some of their upper level stuff is quite solid. The title of this post: Xplods......ya complete junk, haha.

I replaced my stock door and rear speakers with 3-way xplods and they seem to be doing just fine running off my panasonic head unit.

I have a set of 6x9s in my RC. I think that they sound like sh!t. I do not know why the guy who had it before me cut the door out to fit some junk ass 6x9s. It already had some Infinity components in it that sounded great. People are just retarded these days.

Maybe not a 5-speed, but an automatic will work.

Sony is crap
To inforce my point a budy had a ford F100 with a stereo in it Pioneer deck and front speakers with 2 10inch sony subs in the back
Truck got stolen one night found it 4 days later in the woods theifs took everything except the 2 sony subs and that stupid limp bizkit hot dog flavored water cd even took the tail gate not the subs
Sony is crap
