wow i have an explorer with 3 12" w3's... give me email if pics are wanted, just because you sell them doesnt mean i havent experienced them 1st hand as well. ive installed and sold them at my past job as well. i also did an install in a fellow dakota with 2 8" l5's ported and many 2 10" w3's and the 8s get just as loud or louder but can be a fart cannon. regardless, duke your post mean nothing you didnt say which one was louder and please do not tell me you ran l7's AND w6v2's at the same time, in the same box. even if you did, he said w3s vs l5 so who cares about a w6v2 and L7. w6v2 vs a w3 is now a bigger difference than it used to be, as you should know this because you sell JL.
i would pick an L5 if i could fit them anyday over a w3, although both are very nice subs. it all depends what you want as well.
i just ordered 2 10" ED10O's for my truck on a Hifonics 1000D, compared to JL w6v2's and many pick the O for SQ/SPL but the beauty is they need little power to get up, look way better, and can fit behind the seat of my single cab dakota in a .75 sealed box and get just as loud as the bigass w6v2. :) o ya there cheaper 2

I have 2 JL 10W3's in a ported box. I am running a Lanzar optidrive 6200 amp for the whole setup. The W3's are extremely clean sounding. They bump pretty well also. I have them in a 95 Blazer angled at the back glass. For those who say they don't get loud, you haven't heard mine. I had an Optidrive 150 on them before and they hit like a pro boxer. Very clean and crisp. I have installed many systems over the years and JL is hard to beat. A good amp and Cap will go a long way to preventing the boominess of most subs. The W3's get plenty loud enough to cause hearing loss. Pat

ok just for the record i have two 12"in JLw6 v1s , the old ones not the new, and i have alot of experience with subs and amps and so far these old JL s are the BEST no question about it they pound so hard i have had various amps hooked up to them also, at one time i had 2 one thousand watt amps hooked up to them, you could here these subs a mile away NO lie, i have these subs in a regular box in a 1997 blazer people thought i had four 15s, but to your question go with the w3 JLs pound and give great quality sound......

I don't know alot about the JL's but i did have 2 15" w0's and they where loud but as far as my opinion goes i would go with the L5's because square pushes more air and would be alot louder...but i also don't know alot about the square kickers because i have 4 15" cvr's...lol...also i just have to though this out there...lol...congratulations you just brought up a 1 year old post.

yes i know this is old realized this after i responded to the question i do agree that square subs hit hard but jls have better quality sound and i think they last longer,

Your probably right about JL i didnt mean i know nuthing about JL because i know more about them to go with them over L5 or L7's,but havent given them a try to know much of anything about them but i have heard that they sound great basswise but i also heard that they blow even when they've been underpowered

I had a friend who had the jl and they bumped, now i have the L5 10" (2) and they drop nasty so I can at least tell u that with kicker you wont be dissapointed!!!

I have 2 12" kicker L5 subs with a soundstream 880.2 amp and let me tell you this thing bumps. My friend has 2 jl W3 and he has no competition with my L5. So don't get fooled about the L5 they bump man and hard. Kicker all the way!

for sure the w3's but if anyones lookin for a bad ass system hit me up cause im sellin my two eclipse 12" 6200 in a sealed box, a L7 in another sealed box, a 850 watt kicker amp which retails at $850, and a 1000 watt sony amp and all of it is brand new

i got one 15" Kicker L5 with a Kicker KX850.2 amp, and sealed box, and it just cracked my rear window, so be carefull with high 15" L5s.

I got 2 12 inch dual 4 ohm voice L5's. Got em hooked paralellefor 1 ohm. Amp is the Kicker 1250.1-1 ohm. Haven't opened up the amp much at all and i can pull 128 decibels very clean. Know they can do 135. All I can say is LOUD. W3s ive heard all day. little bit cleaner-But nopt much so go with tha L5 s maN

I ordered a pair of L5's and modifying a box to fit them. I am sealing them so i can raise SQ, and I have seen L5s win competetions in SQ as well.

If you're looking for clean/crisp and loud bass, then definitely go with the JLw3('s).
If you're looking for extreme loudness and high db's, go with the L5 or L7.
JBL is cheap and garbage. I do not recommend you buy these. I've heard too many stories of unsatisfied people who purchased these.
I drive a '99 civic ex coupe and have a single jl 12w3 2 ohm sub hooked up to a 500/1 jl amp in my trunk and it sounds amazing. I'm very satisfied with what I purchased and highly recommend this sub for someone interested in very crisp bass.

kicker sucks all day l5 l7 over rated junk ok cant kick any low notes and when bass drop it sounds real cheap sure it can move air but thats all you hear i had them both so whoever likes kicker thats great but kicker always been over rated i havent heard a loud kicker car yet even punch got more nuts than kicker so yeah my opinion kicker are weak sounding sub i have both brand and i rather run jl all day accurate bass and nice drop

I have 2 jl w3 dual 4ohms and I've had them for over 8 years
I ve had to re solder them a few times but they're in my 93
buick rivera and they've broken my external turn signal light/
cover poped the whole unit out broke my trunk lid hinges
blown almost all my rear and front door/vanity lights blew
my 6 bys poped my rear dash poped my horn out of my
steering wheel so many times I need to get new plastic clips
I have a full farad cap it killed my battery and alt a few times
In more then one car so my bid is for my 15s for sure and
my car was in excellent condition when I bought it btw now
its a mess but loud as hell actually I haven't had too much
compition even from l7s

I have two ten L5s on a ZX.1000.1 and i can honestley say
they beat the hell out of 10 w3's, maybe not in
SQ but deff in the SPL range.
If you want loud bass without paying JL's
retartedly high prices, then go with kicker,
They have never let me down.
Ive had all of there models execpt the solo classic and i can say iv been pleased with every one of them - Linc
